The First Baptist Church is a great place to visit even if you are passing through. Located on a major highway connecting New York City and the East Coast with Niagara Falls and Canada, it is only a half an hour away from Corning Glass Museum and the Finger Lakes. The church is in the region known as "The Valley" where the Chemung and Susquehanna Rivers join. The New York/Pennsylvania border bisects the Valley with Waverly being in New York while the three adjacent communities (Athens, Sayre and South Waverly) are in Pennsylvania. The church is also in the heart of the Twin Tiers which offers some of the best hunting and fishing in the Northeast.

DIRECTIONS TO FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

From the East (Binghamton) via Route 17/Future I-86: Take Exit 61 and turn left at the end of the ramp. Proceed immediately under bridge to 4-way stop. Turn left onto Broad Street. Proceed about 1/2 mile and TURN RIGHT on to Park Ave (across from Police Station). Proceed two blocks up Park Drive until you get to the corner with two one way streets. First Baptist is big red brick church on the corner.

From the West (Elmira/Corning) via Route 17/I-86: Take Exit 60 (Sayre/Waverly-Route 220). TURN LEFT and immediately TURN RIGHT just past traffic light on to Broad Street (next to Ted Clark's Busy Market). Proceed on Broad Street through the middle of town. Proceed two blocks past blinking light and TURN LEFT on to Park Ave (police station is across the street). Proceed two blocks to the corner with two one way streets. The First Baptist Church is the big red brick church on the corner.

From the South (Towanda/Williamsport) via Route 220: Take Route 220 past Sayre exit and the 40 MPH signs. Just past the second light, TURN RIGHT on to Broad Street (next to Ted Clark's Busy Market). Proceed on Broad Street through the middle of town. Proceed two blocks past blinking light and TURN LEFT on to Park Ave (police station is across the street). Proceed two blocks to the corner with two one way streets. The First Baptist Church is the big red church on the corner.

From the North (Ithaca) via Route 34: Take Route 34 past the bowling alley and TURN RIGHT at the "T" intersection on to Chemung Street. Proceed a few blocks until you get to a Bank and a "Prime Market." TURN LEFT on to Pennsylvania Ave. Proceed and TURN THE FIRST RIGHT on to Park Ave. Proceed one block to the next intersection with two one way streets. The First Baptist Church is on the right and is big red brick building.
